WIOA and Registered Apprenticeship: A Proven Strategy
About
To be successful with Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) implementation and performance, WIOA should be intertwined with other programs. The Registered Apprenticeship (RA) program is a workforce development tool that continues to gain popularity within the workforce system for its complete alignment with the employer-led program model and work-based learning integration that is at the core of WIOA's goals for success.
Our nation has never embraced the RA model more, as laws and guidance are currently being put into place to expand and fulfill employers' future talent pipelines with skilled labor. The Next Level Now (NLN) Collaborative is seeing this shift first-hand, as requests for technical assistance (TA) at workforce conferences and from specific states across the nation often focus on RA implementation, employer outreach, and how to bridge strategy gaps. NLN, alongside the nationally recognized workforce experts at RA Technical Assistance Center of Excellence, provide universal, intensive, and customized resources in this area.
The links available on this page are common resources provided on RA implementation and strategy. Topics include state grant management, funding sources, targeted outreach strategies, and RA expansion methods for targeted populations. With DOL and ETA’s Office of Apprenticeship (OA), as well as collaboration with State Apprenticeship Agencies (SAAs) and DOL-funded RA investments at the national and state level, RA system customers are served more effectively and efficiently.
